The Medical Laboratory Scientists Association of Tanzania (MeLSAT) conducted a four-day training on Data Utilization for Improvement of Laboratory Services from February 10–14, 2025, at Nyakahoja Centre, Mwanza Region. The training was attended by 23 laboratory professionals from various institutions.

The training aimed to enhance skills in data collection, management, and analysis, improve service delivery, and promote ethical handling of laboratory data. Participants were also encouraged to engage in scientific publications to share knowledge widely.

The closing ceremony was officiated by Dr. Silas Wambura, Acting Regional Medical Officer of Mwanza, accompanied by Mr. Betrand Msemwa, Executive Secretary of MeLSAT, and Mr. Julius J. Shigella, Regional Laboratory Services Coordinator for Mwanza.

Dr. Wambura emphasized the need for accurate record-keeping and data analysis, adherence to ethical standards, and protecting the integrity of the profession. He also highlighted the importance of scientific research and publications to advance the field.

The training was successful, and MeLSAT remains committed to continuous professional development for laboratory scientists in Tanzania. Future sessions are recommended to further enhance knowledge application in laboratory services.
